What happens at this event?
Start with a stump, end with a bowl!
Come and carve your very own unique bowl from a log using an axe, drawknife and various gouges in this full-day workshop.
This course is more physically demanding than carving a spoon, so would serve as a natural progression for those who have done some carving before, however beginners are also welcome!

Things to remember
We will be working outside - though we will have a covered area - so please come prepared for all weathers. Please wear walking boots/work boots if possible, or trainers if not. Please don't wear bare feet, crocs or open-toed shoes.

A superb day! I walked away with a handcrafted wooden bowl, having learned a new skill thanks to the fun, knowledgeable, and patient guidance of Hugh and Phil. A thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience.

The bowl carving course is an absolute joy.
We started just after 10.30 and were due to finish around 17.30, which in my mind was going to be quite a long day of axing and gouging, but I can't believe how fast the time past and how engrossing transforming a piece of wood can be.
Hugh, our instructor, and his volunteer assistant Phil, were so welcoming and delivered the course in a very engaging and well paced manor.
Even though we had the 'misfortune' of having 35 plus degree weather on the day, there was always plenty of shade, refreshments and breaks between carving to stop this detracting from a very rewarding experience. And I've come away with a new storage vessel for my car keys.
Can't recommend this activity enough if wielding an axe or any kind of creative pastime floats your boat.
